Manitoba Car Insurance

Manitoba is one of the provinces in Canada which is known for low car insurance rates. In Manitoba, like in Saskatchewan and British Columbia, a government-owned insurance company is the only authorized company to sell the mandatory basic car insurance. Manitoba Public Insurance offers the basic car insurance known as Basic Autopac.

Basic Autopac

Basic Autopac is the minimum mandatory car insurance that every Manitoban must have. Three types of coverage are covered in the Basic Autopac: all-perils coverage, third-party liability coverage, and personal injury protection plan.

Coverage

All-perils coverage insures the vehicle and all permanent attachments to it against accidental damage or loss in the United States or Canada. This includes coverage for roll-overs, collisions, vandalism, flooding, theft, explosions, and many others. The third-party liability coverage entitles the vehicle owner a maximum of $200,000 for claims made against him or her. Personal injury protection entitles Manitobans for compensation from death or injuries caused by an accident in the United States or Canada.

Optional car insurance

In addition to the Basic Autopac, Manitobans can purchase an optional car insurance. You can find optional car insurance that can do the following: increase the third-party liability limit, decrease the all-perils deductibles, protect a vehicle that is in storage, insure an expensive vehicle beyond the $50,000 limit of the Basic Autopac, and many others.

In buying optional car insurance, the best advice is to compare prices from different car insurance companies. Shopping around will help you find the best car insurance policy for you.
