Basic Autoplan
British Columbia is known to be one of the Canadian provinces with the cheapest car insurance. The basic mandatory car insurance, known as Basic Autoplan, can only be purchased from the government-owned Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
Coverage of Basic Autoplan
This car insurance already includes third-party liability coverage, inverse liability coverage, accident benefits, and motorist protection for the underinsured, hit-and-run, and uninsured. Coverage in the Basic Autoplan includes up to $150,000 for every insured person who has been injured; $200,000 for damages claimed by other drivers; and $1 million per person if the motorist who is at fault is under-insured. Although people are not allowed to buy a Basic Autoplan from other companies, they can purchase additional car insurance.
Optional car insurance
To increase the coverage, British Columbians have the option of buying optional car insurance. These are considered enhancements to the basic car insurance. Many insurance companies offer cheap prices for better coverage.

In fact, high competition among insurance companies has resulted in many product enhancements like replacement cost coverage, first accident forgiveness, and roadside assistance. The basic add-ons in optional car insurance include collision, theft, and fire insurance. Another good thing about optional car insurance plans is that car insurance companies can make a policy that will suit all your needs.
